Berger's Smedie is owned and operated by Henrik Kjær Burgaard-Berger. Henrik started the business in 2001, after he was trained at PH's Beslagsmed in Odense.
We service large parts of Central/South/West Jutland, all of Funen and parts of Zealand. You are always welcome to contact the office to find out when we are in your area.
In addition to Henrik's Danish education as a farrier, he is the only Dane who is FWCF qualified. This means that he has completed and passed the English farrier training. This makes Henrik one of the most highly trained farriers in Denmark.
In 2017, Henrik was also, as the first Dane, inducted into the prestigious International Horseshoing Hall of Fame.
Henrik has participated in competitive blacksmithing at the highest level for many years.
He is, among other things, a Danish and Nordic champion many times. He came in 6th at the World Championships and in 2012 he also became European Champion.
Henrik's passion is to take each individual horse as a starting point and from there shoe it as optimally as possible based on its anatomical and biomechanical framework.
In addition to shoeing riding horses, Henrik also has great expertise in:
- Foal correction: Especially those foals that need a little extra help from the start to stand correctly
- Lost horses: Henrik helps many lost horses every year.
- Removal of Hoof Keratoma / Hoof Cancer
- Riding horses with special needs.
In addition to Henrik's daily work as a farrier, he has developed the VIking Farrier Tools series, which offers a wide selection of horseshoes, soles, packing and tools for farriers.
Here, among other things, a lot of thought has been given to supporting the horse's natural movement, so that you get the most optimal shoeing possible.
As well as developing tools that make it easier for the farrier to do his job.
In addition to Henrik, there are 2 journeymen and 2 apprentices in the company.
Levi has been employed since 2024. Levi lives on Zealand, so he has the opportunity to service our Zealand customers. Levi also rides both Funen and Jutland. Levi has also been a competition shoemaker for many years and has extensive knowledge of shoeing.
Ole has been employed since 2005 and has served a regular clientele for many years. Ole also comes to both Ærø and Fanø as a Farrier.
Henrik's two oldest boys, Mathias and Patrick, are both apprentices as farriers. The youngest boy, Oliver, is working as a workman before he also goes on to apprentice, so you will also meet them in van .
